Empowering Women in Leadership: Insights from our Executive Retreats in Italy

Italy: beauty, culture, food, history, creativity: past and future. Need we say more? Probably not! We recently finished our Umbria Immersion Retreat and Florence is underway this week - bellissimo!  If you’re curious, you can hear from past participants here to seal the deal on why you should join us next year.

Each of our Women's Leadership Retreats is more than just a pretty backdrop or an Instagram story; it's a setting where women discover life-changing lessons and insights. It’s accomplished women sharing the triumphs and challenges that have brought them to this amazing place. We curate an experience that goes beyond the ordinary. In Umbria just a couple weeks ago, as in each of our Retreats, we learn so much from the rich discussion and insights of savvy women.

Here's what we're learning this year in Italy:

#1. Distance Brings Perspective

Distance can be physical and mental, and has a unique way of offering a fresh perspective. As we find ourselves far from our everyday routines and familiar surroundings, we're gaining clarity on our:

  • Goals and aspirations

  • Paths for our future

  • Definition of success

  • Priorities

Distance brings perspective that allows us to dig deep within ourselves; to contemplate what’s most important, and to chart the path forward.

#2. Community Matters

You’ve seen all the latest reports from the Harvard research study, and our time in Italy confirms the fact that we all need community.

In a world that can feel chaotic, and where technology is often a replacement for in person communication, finding a supportive group of individuals is invaluable. The bonds we're forming during this retreat are not just in-country connections; past experience tells us that they’re the beginnings of lasting friendships and professional networks. Our time in Italy underscores the importance of women coming together to uplift, support, inspire and empower one another.

#3. The Importance of Reflection

Reflection is a tool often overlooked in a world that glorifies the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Our retreat encourages participants to take time for self-reflection whenever they get the opportunity. It's a chance to pause, evaluate, and reset in a busy world.

Harvard Business Review (HBR) reminds us, "Research shows the habit of reflection can separate extraordinary professionals from mediocre ones. We would go so far as to argue that it’s the foundation that all other soft skills grow from."

#4. Embrace La Dolce Vita!

Last, but not least, our time in Italy has taught us to embrace La Dolce Vita, the sweet life. It's a reminder that in the middle of our professional pursuits and personal growth, we need to take time to embrace moments of joy, simplicity, and beauty!

Our Women's Leadership Retreat in Italy has been a transformative journey inspiring lessons and insight that resonate deeply. The distance has brought us clarity, the community has provided support, and reflection has led to growth. As we continue to embrace the sweet life,  we're not just learning about leadership; we're also discovering the art of living.
